Lakeshore deputy mayor Tracey Bailey has announced her intentions to run for mayor in the next municipal election this fall

“For the past 4 years, I have served as your Deputy Mayor, I’ve worked along side the community and before that, I served for 4 years as Councillor of Ward 4,” said Bailey.

Why the mayor’s chair?

“In my day job I am the Chief Executive Officer delivering Community Supports.  Running for Mayor is a natural next step in my dedication to community.  I am committed to bringing leadership and making Lakeshore a better place to live, work, and raise a family.”

25+ years of community work

“I’m running because I have the proven leadership, elected experience, and community-building results that I can apply to the Mayoral role,” said Bailey.

“After two years of a devastating pandemic — there is so much to do, and so much to deliver.”

What changes would you like to see for Lakeshore over the coming years?

“Lakeshore is counting on us: Among other things we need to build better infrastructure, catch up on our roads, plan our growth, strengthen our neighbourhoods, protect our farmland, deliver the improvements we need to make our community more safe, liveable and affordable,” said Bailey.

This is our opportunity to grow stronger together, work together, stand up together, and succeed together.”

Accomplishments as a Lakeshore Council member?

“I am proud to have been at the table because we have accomplished a lot of planning.  We have laid the ground-work for so much to come.  We have made headway in flood mitigation and broke ground on $55 million expansion to the Denis St. Pierre Water Pollution Control Plant, the expansion is critical,” said Bailey.

“We have a long way to go but we invested more than ever into roads.  We have improved our digitalization and a lot of work behind the scenes to support improved level of service.  We invested in our people and so much more.”

Why should residents consider voting for you for Mayor?

“I have been receiving so much support. I am so appreciative that people have taken the time to let me know their thoughts as well as making sure that I know that I am supported,” added Bailey.  “It takes a community! I am truly excited to see where we go next and look forward to Council 2022.”
