The Maidstone Bicentennial Museum held an Old-Fashioned Country Fair this past weekend in honour of Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.

The family friendly event included the planting of a tree, plaque placement and bagpiped version of ‘God Save The Queen.’

Residents were then able to enjoy an old- fashioned time featuring many activities for kids with puppet and magic show. An exhibit featuring the platinum jubilee was put together by museum staff.

“We’re so pleased to be able to celebrate this once in a lifetime event,” said Victoria Beaulieu, museum curator. “The Queens legacy is an integral part of our history as Canadians.”

The Maidstone Bicentennial Museum, located at 1093 Puce Rd. in Essex, is run by the Maidstone and Area Historical Society. The society’s goal is to preserve and display the heritage and culture of the local area featuring Heritage Gardens, educational programming, speakers and events.
