Essex Region Conservation is inviting nominations to honour individuals or organizations that have made a significant environmental impact in the Windsor-Essex region.
“We continue to see remarkable community commitment to environmental actions and stewardship across the Windsor-Essex-Pelee Island region,” says Danielle Breault Stuebing, Director of Communications and Outreach Services. “Volunteers made an incredible impact through stewardship events like tree planting, restoration activities, and litter pick-ups.”
The upcoming 2025 Conservation Awards aim to recognize those dedicated to improving the natural environment.
“Past award winners have created forests and monarch habitats, been involved in massive restoration projects, inspired and engaged others in conservation education activities, and so much more,” Breault Stuebing adds.
“With growing concern about the state of our global environment, recognizing those who are taking local action and making a positive impact is important.”
Municipalities may also be nominated for environmental achievements.
Nominations can be submitted online, or nominators can submit a one-page summary detailing the nominee’s accomplishments. The submission should include the nominee’s category, name, address, phone number, and contact information. The deadline for nominations is December 13, 2024, and winners will be announced at ERCA’s Annual General Meeting in January 2025.
The awards are open to individuals or organizations in four categories: the Youth Award, which honours a youth leader engaged in conservation projects and studying in local elementary or secondary schools; the Education Award, recognizing excellence in educating and engaging the community on conservation issues; the Volunteer Award, acknowledging outstanding efforts by volunteers who contribute time and services to conservation projects; and the Environmental Achievement Award, celebrating significant programs or projects that have enhanced the region’s sustainability.
The Essex Region Conservation Authority, founded in 1973 by the Province of Ontario, is a public sector organization governed by local municipalities.
