We start with Sabre football. The senior team began their season strongly, with three wins in their first four games. Quarterback Aiden Britton contributed 294 passing yards and three touchdowns; running back/linebacker Spencer Hyjek recorded nine receptions for 125 receiving yards, 140 rushing yards, six total touchdowns, 25 tackles, and two tackles for loss; and Elijah Dobsky ran 30 times for 122 yards and a touchdown. The team defeated school rival Villanova and the powerful Belle River squad, but lost their only away game to the Holy Names Knights. This fierce Sabres team is poised for upcoming challenges and the WECSSAA playoffs.

The junior football team has also had a strong start, with two wins, one loss, and an extremely rare tie—a 15-15 thriller against the Herman Green Griffons. Running backs Tucolin “Coolie” Downey and “The Bull” Sami Osman have impressed with their remarkable yards per carry and punt-returning abilities. Ajax Smith has showcased his versatility, playing quarterback, linebacker, and kicker. Wide receiver/defensive back Chase Patterson made a key interception for a touchdown in the Herman game. The team is currently tied with the Green Griffons for third place with three games remaining. Go Sabres!

The Sabre cross-country team finished strong with a second-place overall finish at the WECSSAA event, thanks to outstanding performances from the junior girls and senior boys teams, who took first place in their respective divisions. The novice girls featured a top-10 finish, with Julia Carswell earning sixth place. The junior girls accounted for more than a third of the top 15 overall, with Alexandra Pardalis, Kallie Zajacz, Nadiah Ciaramitaro, Marina Prvulovic, Avery Carbonaro, and Lauren Howlett finishing second, third, sixth, 12th, 14th, and 15th, respectively. Leah Shannon and Juliet Gin finished fourth and ninth for the senior girls, and Grayson Pitcher, Alex Gin, and Yousif Hamad placed third, sixth, and eighth for the senior boys. After the race, Grade 10 runner Kallie Zajacz told the Post, “I think our team has progressed really well… I feel like everyone is pushing themselves and determined to do the best we can.” The cross-country team is gearing up for SWOSSAA in Sarnia.

Both the golf and tennis teams participated in the WECSSAA competition, with valiant efforts from all players. Unfortunately, neither team earned individual or team honours, but their efforts were commendable as they look forward to next year.

The junior boys’ volleyball team has struggled, winning one of their first six games, but they secured a recent win over the L’Essor Aigles, 2-1. The boys are hopeful for a late push for the playoffs.

The senior boys’ volleyball team has shown strong play, with a 4-2 record in their first six games and a tournament win on October 18. The team has improved steadily throughout the season, demonstrating great camaraderie and grit. Star players Elliot Sohler and Deklan Vlcek told the Post, “It was a little rough at the start, but we have good serving and great passing, which helped us win in the end.” The team is excited for the remainder of the season.

The junior girls’ basketball team has had a tough start, with a 2-4 record so far. However, they have been competitive in every game, led by Lauren Ferasol and Ava Simms. The girls are looking forward to their remaining three games.

The senior girls’ basketball team has had a solid start, with a 3-3 record. Led by outstanding performances from Leah Shannon and Claire Boutros, the team currently sits in fourth place with plenty of opportunities to climb the standings.
