The Belle River Legion Branch 399 has made a generous contribution to local food security and senior support services, presenting a $10,000 donation to the Community Support Centre (CSC) of Essex County.

The funds will support the CSC’s food bank and Meals on Wheels program, which provide essential services to residents across the region. The donation was made possible through proceeds from Power Play Bingo, where Legion volunteers regularly work sessions to raise money for community initiatives.

“This donation reflects the Legion’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the community,” said Richard Brooks, president of Branch 399. “Our volunteers dedicate their time at bingo so we can continue supporting vital programs like these.”

CSC CEO Tracey Bailey accepted the donation alongside Paula Hall, food services coordinator at the CSC. The organization expressed its gratitude for the Legion’s continued support, noting the impact the funds will have on vulnerable residents.

“We’re incredibly thankful for this contribution,” said Bailey. “It helps us continue delivering nutritious meals and emergency food support to those who need it most.”

Local resident Marie Tremblay, who relies on the Meals on Wheels program, said the donation will make a real difference. “It’s more than just a meal—it’s a lifeline. Knowing the community cares means everything.”

Tom Delaney, a longtime community supporter, said the donation shows how small efforts can lead to big change. “Every bingo shift, every volunteer hour—it all adds up. This is what community looks like.”

The presentation took place at the CSC, with Brooks, Bailey and Hall pictured together to mark the occasion.
