Pavithra Rhaesh, a University of Windsor student, has been named the winner of this year’s Libro Bright Lights Contest. Rhajesh takes home a $500 prize and has selected UNICEF as her chosen local charity, which will also receive $500.

“I chose this charity because I feel it’s important to help out children,” Rhaesh explained. “Especially because they should be our priority moving into the future.”

Sara Regan, branch manager at Libro Credit Union in Belle River, highlighted the company’s commitment to community values. “In terms of assisting children, that is close to our hearts too. We are deeply involved in the United Way, so this is a perfect fit.”

Rhaesh qualified for the contest by posting a photo of her visit to Jackson Park to enjoy Bright Lights Windsor, one of the region’s most popular winter attractions. “I’ve never really won a contest like this before,” she shared, expressing her excitement at being selected.

Regan added, “Libro really loves supporting events like Bright Lights Windsor, which helps bring the community together. Giving back to the community and serving our membership are paramount to our success. We hope to see you next year.”

Bright Lights Windsor, launched in 2017, has become a must-see event in the area, featuring the Enchanted Children’s Village and the Express. Last year, city officials estimated more than 100,000 people attended the festivities.
