Hit the ice, take a dip or try your hand at a wide range of sports during the Municipality of Lakeshore’s ‘Families in Motion Day,’ coming to the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre on Monday, February 21.
The day features a full slate of free activities sponsored by S.W.A.R.G in Motion and Pathway to Potential. The activities include leisure and recreational swims, family badminton and basketball, and public skating times for all ages and abilities.
All program participants and visitors who are 12 years of age or older will be required to follow the COVID-19 screening procedure and check in with proof of vaccination (QR codes). Vaccination certificates can be accessed online via the Province of Ontario portal.
At 11a.m. spectators can drop in for a free synchronized skating demonstration from the talented team members of Skate Lakeshore.
The Family Day festivities will finish with a bang during a free community fireworks show starting shortly after dusk, around 6:30 p.m.
Spectators can view the show from vehicles, with parking spots available in the ATRC parking lot or along the north service road. If spectators wish to exit their vehicles, they are asked to maintain physical distance from others. Please note, access to ATRC soccer fields will be restricted before and during the show.
The full schedule of events can be found online.
Pre-registration is required for all activities, which can be completed online via Lakeshore.ca/Recreation or by calling the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre at 519-727-0470.
