Contractors for the municipality of Lakeshore will begin dredging the northern section of Belle River commencing Friday, March 4.

The work will take place between the mouth of the lake and the footbridge between First St. and West River St. and expected to be completed by the end of March.

The dredging work is intended to deepen the river, as well as improve water flow and drainage. Dredged material will be moved to the beach.

Access to the beach, river, and Lake St. Clair will be impacted throughout the duration of the dredging project.

For public safety, temporary fencing will be installed at the beach while boat access along this stretch of the river will be restricted at times. Residents and businesses in the area can expect construction activity and noise during the day.

For questions about the project, please contact Lakeshore’s Capital Projects Division at 519-728-2488 ext. 641.
