Town of Essex to suspend mask requirements

The Lakeshore News Reporter

Following the Province of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen, the Town of Essex will no longer require masks to be worn in Town owned facilities beginning Monday, March 21.

Although COVID-19 restrictions are being eased, some individuals may choose to continue to wear masks based on their comfort level and are welcome to do so.

The Town is asking that people be kind and respectful of everyone’s personal decision.

It should be noted that passive screening is still required before entering a facility and signage will be posted at all entrances.

“As we move through this stage of the pandemic, it is important that individuals proceed with caution and consider their level of risk in their daily decisions to protect themselves and their families from COVID-19. It continues to be recommended that those who feel sick stay home, and for those at an increased risk to avoid high-risk situations like poorly ventilated areas or crowded indoor spaces,” read a press release from the Town.

“We will continue to follow the directives of our public health officials and will adjust programs and services as required.”
