Belle River Marina and park facilities open for the Season

Improvements at Lakeview Park a boon for boaters and beachgoers

Lakeshore News Reporter

Belle River Marina has officially opened for the season. Park facilities, such as washrooms and sports fields, will follow on Monday, May 2.

“Spring has sprung and it’s time to get outside! We are excited to see our popular outdoor facilities reopen this year as we get closer to normal operations,” said Lakeshore mayor Tom Bain. “The Belle River Marina welcomes boaters from throughout the region, and our parks are enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.”

Boaters and beachgoers will enjoy some new improvements at Lakeview Park’s West Beach after the recent Belle River dredging project. Earlier this year, contractors dredged a section of the river to improve water flow and drainage.

Sand dredged from the river was dried and used to fill low-lying areas of the beach and prevent ponding.

As a reminder, all visitors are asked to respect local parks and facilities by not littering, following signage, and reporting problems as soon as possible. Last year, several public parks in Lakeshore were vandalized which caused significant property damage and reduced access for community members.
