Members gathered for the Lakeshore Firefighter Appreciation Thursday night at the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre. The event was the first time in the department’s history to include firefighters from all five stations.
“The sheer size of the municipality means it’s challenging to get all our staff members together in one place. Historically, we’ve hosted one or two events across the stations, but this year we saw an opportunity to come together as one department,” said chief Don Williamson. “We have an incredible team here and this is one small gesture to say thanks for all that they do.”
“On behalf of Council and all of Lakeshore’s residents, we thank you,” said Lakeshore mayor Tom Bain. “We’ve seen many images of the work of Lakeshore’s firefighters tonight, from responding to medical calls to running into burning buildings. They do it all and we can’t thank them enough for the work they do to help keep our residents and communities safe.”
