Election Day in Lakeshore is Monday Oct. 24

Election Day in the Municipality of Lakeshore is coming up on Monday, October 24!

Eligible voters in Lakeshore can cast their ballots at 12 Voting Places throughout the Municipality from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

To find your Voting Place, check your Voter Information Card, visit the interactive Voting Place Map online, or call 519-728-2700 ext. 0.

Peak time reminders

After significant turnout at the two Advance Voting events, the Municipality has added additional election resources to reduce Election Day wait times. However, voters may encounter longer-than-expected wait times.

“Given this is the first in-person voting hosted by the Municipality of Lakeshore in over 20 years, wait times are difficult to predict,” said Kristen Newman, Lakeshore’s Corporate Leader – Strategic & Legal Affairs. “We have a talented team of election workers, who are ready to welcome voters on Monday. We’re asking everyone to ensure they have ample time to participate in this important democratic process.”

If possible, voters are encouraged to vote outside of peak times. Peak periods may include the opening of the Voting Places (10:00 AM), lunchtime (11:30 AM to 1:30 PM), and after daytime work hours (4:00 PM to 6:00 PM).

Publication of election results

Uncertified election results will be posted to Lakeshore’s municipal election results page and are expected to be made available after 10:00 PM on October 24.

To mitigate the impact of the expected increase in website traffic, all visitors to Lakeshore.ca will be redirected to the Election results page from 7:00 PM on October 24 to 10:00 AM on October 25.

Voter registration

Voters should have received their Voter Information Cards by mail. These cards include information such as the voter’s qualifying address, municipal ward, and Election Day voting location.

If a resident does not receive a Voter Information Card, their information is incorrect, or they are a first-time voter, they may apply to have their name added to the Voter’s List or information corrected in order to vote. To register to vote, visit Lakeshore Town Hall during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM).

Interested residents are strongly encouraged to register to vote prior to Election Day
