The Feeding Windsor Essex team has completed renovations on the Street Angels Soup Shack- a sort of mobile soup kitchen operating out of a revamped trailer.
The organization will begin serving clients starting Monday, November 21st from the parking lot at Throne of Grace Church in downtown Windsor where the Soup Shack is currently stationed.
Operating seven days a week, the Soup Shack will be open between the hours of 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Clients will be able to stop by and get a hot bowl of something yummy, a fresh roll, and something warm to drink to sustain them until food is available through shelters, soup kitchens, and day programs the following morning.
Volunteers will work in groups of three to serve food to clients, help them make phone calls, and provide essential supplies such as warming items during the harsh winter months.
Literature will also be available outlining resources available in the community for those experiencing homelessness.
Feeding Windsor Essex has been creating food security across Windsor-Essex for the past eight years, feeding hundreds of meals daily to individuals of all ages in our community through multi-level programming.
Street Angels has been operating as an outreach program for the past two years, serving those experiencing homelessness, poverty, and housing instability to empower them to reach their fullest potential.
The organization is looking for volunteers to operate The Soup Shack. If you are interested in helping, please reach out to Street Angels at 519-915-2377 or by email at streetangelswindsor@gmail.com.
