Sixteen students from Grades 4 to 8 put their spelling skills to the test at Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School’s annual Spelling Bee on Feb. 13.
The competition, which featured a panel of distinguished judges including LaSalle Mayor Crystal Meloche, Constable Atkins from the LaSalle Police Service, and firefighters Blanchett and Bartlett from the LaSalle Fire Department, showcased the hard work and dedication of the students.
After several rounds of challenging words, Aubrey Marques emerged as the winner, with Dominic Falconio placing second and Lucy Asmaro finishing third.
Marques went on to compete at the WFCU Regional Spelling Bee on Feb. 15, where she placed fifth among 28 participants.
“We are extremely proud of her,” the school said in a statement.
The event was organized and facilitated by school staff, who served as organizers and scorekeepers, ensuring a fair and engaging competition for all participants.
