A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held over the weekend to officially open the Rotary Circle to the public at the LaSalle Landing site, located along the scenic stretch of Front Road. The event marked a significant milestone in the town’s ongoing efforts to enhance community spaces and celebrate local legacy initiatives.
The well-attended grand opening featured remarks from several key contributors, including LaSalle Mayor Crystal Meloche, Lisa Kolody of the Windsor-Essex Community Foundation, and Mary Lou Amlin, chair of the legacy committee with the Rotary Club of LaSalle Centennial. Each speaker reflected on the collaborative spirit that made the project possible and emphasized the importance of fostering spaces that serve both current residents and future generations.
In recognition of the support that brought the Rotary Circle to life, certificates of appreciation were presented to major donors and sponsors. Following the presentations, Mayor Meloche joined Amlin, Kolody and members of LaSalle town council for the ceremonial ribbon-cutting—a symbolic gesture that officially welcomed the community into the new space.
Once the ribbon was cut, the atmosphere shifted to one of celebration and play. The spray jets were activated to the delight of children in attendance, who ran through the water with gleeful abandon, kicking off the summer season in joyful fashion.
Central to the project is a thoughtfully designed entrance garden featuring a variety of native plants, shrubs and trees. The landscaping not only adds beauty to the site but also reflects the area’s natural heritage and environmental stewardship. Located at 970 Front Rd., the garden serves as a welcoming gateway to LaSalle Landing, inviting visitors to pause, explore and reconnect with nature.
“We are excited to present the citizens of LaSalle with a legacy that will beautify our town and give its citizens and visitors a place for relaxation and reflection,” Amlin said.
“Thank you to all involved in the Rotary Club of LaSalle Centennial’s legacy project — the Rotary Circle.”
