On September 3rd, students at Belle River District High School started the 2025-2026 school year. The BRDHS Nobles are determined and eager to begin this year with a positive attitude.
Last June, a new group of student council members were elected. Since then, they have been working hard to prepare exciting events and spirit days for everybody to enjoy. Student Council Prime Minister, Taya Martin, said, “This school year is our chance to make memories, celebrate every moment, and turn ordinary days into something unforgettable.”
Friday, September 5th, was the school’s very first spirit day of the year: Green and White Day. The hallways were flooded with spirited students rocking the famous school colours. Many pictures were taken to be included in the yearbook, and points were counted for the annual challenge of which grade has the most school spirit throughout the year!
On the same day, the BRDHS football team took part in a full scrimmage at the University of Windsor. They played against Villanova Secondary School and three teams from London, Ontario. Markcos Newman and Craig Querbach stood out, earning defensive and offensive MVPs, respectively. The Nobles were successful, and new talent was discovered. Coach Mr. Holmes said that the athletes “represented themselves and the school very well.”
September 18th will be Grade 9 Day, where the freshmen will team up under the leadership of the seniors to compete in a memorable afternoon of field games, team cheers, and more!
On September 25th, the school will be one of many to participate in the Terry Fox walk to support Terry Fox’s dream of raising funds and hope for cancer research. The school fundraising link is schools.terryfox.ca/111264 or donations can be given directly to homeroom classes.
In addition to football, many other sports teams begin in the fall, including Cross Country, Girls’ Basketball, Tennis, Golf, Dance, and Boys’ Volleyball. Students can also get involved through various school clubs, such as the Nobles Reporters Club, our First Robotics Canada Team, Book Club, the Gay-Straight Alliance, and the Social Justice Club. Principal Ms. Williams said, “We are so happy to welcome back our Noble students and can’t wait to see what exciting things the 2025-2026 school year will bring to our learning community. Let’s have a great school year, Nobles!”
