73s take game one of PJHL Stobbs Division final series with Canadiens

Curtis Jackson scored twice as the Essex 73s up-ended the Lakeshore Canadiens 3-1 in the opening game of the Provincial Junior Hockey League’s Stobbs Division final series at the Atlas Tube Centre in Lakeshore on Tuesday night.

Andrew Thoms had the other goal for the 73s while Trevor Larue replied with the Canadiens only goal in the tight-checking affair between the longtime powerhouse rivals clubs. Jackson also assisted on Thoms’ goal, giving him three points on the night.

Jakob Knowles made 35 saves to pick up the win in net for the 73s while Trevor Heslop made 20 stops at the other end.

Game two of the best-of-seven series goes Friday, April 8 at the Essex Centre Complex before the teams return to the Atlas Tube Centre on Sunday, April 10 for game three.
