Canadiens defeat 73s 6-1 to take game two of PJHL’s Stobbs Division final series

Jake Nimmo scored twice and Trevor Heslop made 16 saves as the Lakeshore Canadiens defeated the Essex 73s 6-1 Friday night to even their Provincial Junior Hockey League’s Stobbs Division final series at 1-1 Friday night.

Trevor Larue, Eric Larue, Adam Pizzo and Bryce Scarlett had the other goals for Lakeshore (1-1) in the game that was played before 965 spectators at the Essex Centre Complex. Dylan Weston chipped in with three assists for the Canadiens while Brian McCarthy and Kyle Walker both had a pair of helpers on the night.

Matt Smith scored the only goal for Essex (1-1) and Jakub Knowles made 25 saves while being almost twice as busy as Heslop.

Game three of the best-of-seven series goes Sunday night at the Atlas Tube Centre with a 7 pm opening face-off before the teams return to Essex for game four on Tuesday, April 12. That game also starts at 7pm.
