Sunday May 1st to Saturday May 7th is Emergency Preparedness Week.
The week serves as an important reminder for how Lakeshore residents can be prepared for any emergency that comes their way.
Residents invited to share how they’re prepared for a chance to win a 72-hour survival kit
“The best time to get prepared is now, because once an emergency hits it could be too late,” said Lakeshore fire chief Don Williamson. “This week is an opportunity to go over your emergency evacuation plans and 72-hour kits and to talk with your loved ones about what may happen during an emergency.”
This year, the Lakeshore Fire Department is giving away three 72-hour emergency evacuation kits. To be entered into the random draw, residents can complete one or more of the following:
- Create a social media post (text, photo, or video) about how you have prepared for an emergency, use the hashtag #GetPrepared and mention/tag @Municipality of Lakeshore on Facebook and @TweetLakeshore on Twitter.
- Reply with a comment on one of Lakeshore’s featured EPW2022 posts on Facebook or Twitter.
- Submit a short video, story, or photograph by email to jpulleyblank@lakeshore.ca
Submissions will be accepted until Friday, May 6 at 4:30 p.m., with winners announced on Monday, May 9.
Lakeshore will also be sharing emergency preparedness tips, resources, and other educational material via social media and online at Lakeshore.ca/Prepare.
