The Belle River Nobles’ fall sports season came and went as quickly as the falling leaves of autumn, but if you had missed it, here is a rundown.
Junior Football
The Junior Football team had a rocky start, however they picked up the pace after winning their game against St. Annes 19-0. The team kept up this pace, winning their next three games in a row. After a long and tough game, the determined team ended their season to Kennedy, with a final score of 24-8.
Senior Football
The Senior Football team persevered through their own season, facing many injuries. Even with many players being out, the boys pushed through into the quarter finals. “They still did a great job in the quarter finals, losing by 7 points to Essex,” commented Coach Hlady. The team had a major comeback in their playoff game however, going into the second half with 0 points, and ending it with 27.
Junior Boys Volleyball
The Junior Boys Volleyball team had a season of tremendous improvement and ended it high with a record of 6-3!
“These boys showed incredible promise for future BRDHS success and should be a dominant team for the next several years,” said Coach Abbott.
Senior Boys Volleyball
The Senior Boys Volleyball team had many ups and downs, but overall played amazingly. Their games against Westview Freedom Academy and Catholic Central had them winning all three sets.
Coach Parent is extremely proud of the boys, saying, “They made many improvements, came together as a team and fought hard each and every match. They have much to be proud of and will look to improve their record next year.”
Cross-Country
Our Cross-Country team had an awesome season. The most notable athlete being Brock Pernal who placed 5th at WECSSAA with a time of 13:48! Five of six divisions made it to the SWOSSAA championship, and BRDHS was one of the only schools to do so.
“This year’s focus was on personal growth, team building and perseverance, and what a success it was,” said Coach Pula.
Junior Girls Basketball
Possibly the most noteworthy season out of all the fall sports would be the Junior Girls’ Basketball team. The girls made Belle River’s best season in recent history, with a record of 10-3! Julia Cooney the “Grade 9 Star” scored a league high of 179 points, and a season high of 30 points in a league game against Lajeunesse.
Coach Graziano had nothing but praise for his team, saying, “Ella Draca, Ava Roznawski and Ashlynn Allen also had successful grade 9 seasons that set the stage for the team to win it all next year!”
The Nobles look forward to our winter sports coming up and are encouraged to go out and support. These include boys’ and girls’ hockey, girls’ volleyball, boys’ basketball, and swimming.
